TCS aims 10% revenue from government projects; to hire 25,000 people (sep,3,2009)

CHANDIGARH: Finding immense potential in government projects, leading IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is aiming 10 per cent of its total revenue from these projects in the next three years, besides, adding 25,000 employees this year.
"Currently, our revenue from government projects is very small and we want to raise it to at least 10 per cent of our total revenue in the next three years," TCS Vice President (Head Global Government Industry Group) Tanmoy Chakrabarty said here today on the sidelines of an E-revolution initiative organized jointly by Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.

TCS signs MoU with AP police for CCTNS project (june,23,2012)

HYDERABAD: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) june,23,2012 signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh Police to implement a crime tracking system in the state.
The Crime and Criminal Tracking and Network System (CCTNS) is a 'Mission Mode Project' under the National e-governance plan of the union government and an outlay of Rs 2,000 crore has been made to implement it across the country.

Passport Seva Project by TCS likely to launch in 2 weeks (may,18,2010)

BANGALORE: After several delays, the Passport Seva Project (PSP) being implemented by India's biggest software company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is expected to be launched in two weeks, at least two government officials have confirmed to ET.
The project, which was originally scheduled for launch in June last year, missed around three internal deadlines, as the officials at ministry of external affairs (MEA) and TCS struggled to fix software glitches and spent more time understanding user requirements, apart from training different government departments including the police force.
TCS bags treasury automation project (0ct,19,2012)
The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest software exporter, on Tuesday signed a contract with the Karnataka government to automate its treasury and finance department functions. The six-year deal is valued at Rs 94 crore.

Govt  ropes in TCS for much-awaited IIIT project (may,29,2012)

The state government has roped in leading IT firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as its industry partner to set up the country’s fifth Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT).
Sources close to the development said the government had been trying hard for the last three years to get the Centre’s nod for setting up an IIIT. Following this, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) suggested the state to take up the project on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
TCS  bets on China
The China business of Tata Consultancy Services, India’s largest software services exporter, is less than $100 million (Rs 520 crore) and the size of its workforce is 2,000. For a $10-billion (Rs 52,000-crore) company with 2,38,000 professionals wordwide, this appears to be a small business.
